Introduction
Hi there, I’m Ayomide Aregbede Ogechi. I currently work as a Senior Software Engineer at Community.
I’m exploring SRE, and this blog is a way for me to document my journey, and life lessons.
Outside my full-time job, I’m a Christian serving at TRC, a Husband, and a Father to an energetic toddler.
I’m passionate, and have invested time in aiding tech professionals build their careers. I’ve done this through mentoring, and speaking at conferences and meetups.
I’m also an “endurance” athlete working towards my first half marathon in 2024.
Fun hobbies include boxing and street photography.

Why SRE?
I have spent the last few years of my career being heavily product focused with just sufficient Ops experience to get the work done. Thankfully, I work in an organisation that offers pretty good visibility into our infra, and requires some level of Ops knowledge to get the work done. However, I’ve mostly had my focus on product. While I still love building products for customers, I want to know more about infrastructure and automation.
What do I want to learn?
I hope that the next few years as a SRE will put me in a sweat spot of 40% product and 60% infra/automation. I want to learn more about:
- Linux internals
- Networking
- Automation
- Cloud Native (Kubernetes, Nomad, etc)’s internals
- Distributed Systems
- Observability
- Incident Management
